Weighing Range of Weighing Balance

Dear All,
Please suggest.

  1. How to define the weighing range (Min & Max) for the weighing balance used in ware house/Production and Quality control department?

  2. Type of calibrations (eccentricity etc.) to be performed in ware house/Production and Quality control department?

Your weighing range should at least cover the weighing range that is needed for manufacturing/production. After that the calibration should follow the scale manufacturer’s recommendation.

For use in the pharmaceutical industry the minimum weight that can be weighed on a balance is given by 2000x standard deviation (SD) of 10 measurements.

However, if SD obtained is smaller than 0.41d (d = scale interval), that SD is replaced by 0.41d.
