I was discussing with one of our engineers that he needs to verify that EMI and RFI wont interefere with operation of his system when he asked abaout traceability to a standard.
In the past my testing has involved operating a power drill, 2-way radio, cell phone, etc. in close proximity to the system and observing the results. Unfortunately he is correct, the only conclusion that can be drawn from this test is that those specific items had no effect on the system, not that the system is resistant to EMI and RFI.
If anyone has any suggestions or recommendations on how to make this verification more robust, please post them.
