In-process test during compression

Dear All,

I have one query regarding in-process testing (Hardness,Thickness, wt variation and D.T) of tablet during compression

  • How much tablet (In numbers) to be taken for in-process testing at initial setting of compression machine.

  • How much tablets (In numbers) to be taken for in-process testing during compression process after specified interval of time i.e every after 2 hrs.

         Is there any guidelines where it has mention that how much tablets (In numbers) to be taken for in-process testing at initial setting of compression machine and during compression process.

According to USP, you have to use minimum 6 tablets for hardness testing. I cannot see any reason why you cannot follow this when you do it in-process at different stages.
