Calibration of Balances

Hi All,

We have different types of Balances in our companies including in warehouse, production and laboratories. Is anybody know about the fundamental requirements for calibration and what parameters we should to do for annual calibration and for verification check?

Best Regards,

Jack

Annual is a pretty long time for balances. Remember that if you find something out of calibration, you need to do analysis to determine what was impacted by that. That could be a year’s worth of measurements for a balance.

We don’t do a lot of measurement but we confirm our balances are in calibration every 3 months. We have a documented process and use calibrated weights traceable to NIST standards.

Hi,

thanks, just to know if we do daily verification with two/three standard weigth and do monthly verification with 5 standard weigth so it is good enough to do anual calibration. we know mostly companies do every 6 or 9 months calibration please guide me. the other thing if we calculate correction factor during calibration , do we need to use it for actual reading or report our actual reading directly.

Best Regards,

Jack

Hi Friends
The calibration/Varification of analytical balances should be done on daily basis by using the 2/3 standard weights by covering the balace measurement range. The detailed calibration including the measurement uncertainty and all the weight should be used for the calibration of balaces on monthly or fortnight basis.
The above procedure should also followed for the balaneces for large scales balances or having the multiple load cells.

Hi All,

Thank you All, for daily verification after using certified weigth there are some ways to calculate % Error for diffrence. I want to ask if there is a common way to calculate %Error and define specification to pass / fail for daily verification.

Kind Regards,
Jack
