Washing Machine validation

Anyone have an idea on how to show that a laundry washing machine is clean and is not creating cross contamination between loads? My thoughts are maybe just doing the same swab type validation that we do on the manufacturing equipment by only using the surface area of the inside of washing machine contact surface, swabbing a 16 in squared area inside the machine, also do a visual inspection, test before and after the load, and of course test spikes for recovery verification. Maybe a TOC of the rinse cycle water for detergent. Thoughts?
