I am working on interfacing various lab/diagnostic equipment types to the LAN for use with an MES, things like bench-tops scales etc. The values are then read directly into a Master Batch Record (MBR) at the click of a button, thus removing the risk of transcription errors.
To date, this has been verified using an IOQ protocol that tests both the actual connection in conjunction with the MES and verifies the detailed configuration spec.
Can anyone recommend a better way of getting these devices connected up? I was thinking along the lines of using a standard form to add a piece of kit to the network whilst at the same time verifying the config spec.
I would still use change control to add the device but I want to reduce the paperwork load. It is currently cumbersome and repetitive doing the IOQ whilst this doesn’t add any value either.
