Is the electronic audit trail considered an electronic record, and therefore subject to the same controls for reliability, accuracy, integrity, security, etc?
I’ve always considered audit trail info to be meta-data. There’s nothing that requires it to be managed as an independent record.
HOWEVER, it is certainly expected to comply with all those attributes (reliable, secure, integrity, etc.). Otherwise, it’s of little use.
