Handling Deviation

While doing calibration of HPLC the instrument developed problem and stopped functioning. Deviation was booked. Engineer was assigned and the parts required to rectify the problem were sorted out. but due to shortage of parts the instrument was kept idle and the deviation CAPA was extended. It took almost five years and the register is going to be discarded in another few more months.

What should be done to close the Deviation and what is the period for closing such deviations and if it is unable to close such deviations what action should be taken to close such deviations without waiting for such a long period?

Raised deviation shall remains open, all though the period is over to be closed .

In addition to this, on current date one more deviation can be raised to support the previous deviation with same subject until the problem is rectified.

and I don’t think the said one is real one.
